LA Public Library - Harbor City-Harbor Gateway Branch

I discovered the library while driving home on Western Ave.
The bright yellow roof and the angles of the building are striking.
Location:
24000 S. Western
Harbor City, CA 90710

Architect: Scott Cadre http://www.library.ca.gov/lba2000/funded/HarborGateway.html

Such a striking unique piece of architecture! There is a real feel of being an oasis in the desert!

The city of Los Angeles passed a bond awhile back to expand and create new libraries. This group of architects who work for the city have been doing a spectacular job on the libraries as well as other civic structures. Love them or hate them, they are certainly contemporary and bold.

I too (Palm Axis) have a second blog..visit

It is a handsome building. i love it when there's strong support for public institutions, especially libraries.
