Buddies: Commodore Schuyler F. Heim & Henry Ford Bridges - Terminal Island, CA (SUNDAY BRIDGES)

The Com. Heim Bridge (green structure) is part of State Route 47 (the Terminal Island Freeway), crossing over the Cerritos Channel and is heavily used by trucks coming and going to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The bridge opened in Jan. 1948. The H. Ford bridge is, oddly, a railway bridge.

(Per Wiki, Mannix TV show opening sequence was filmed on the Heim bridge. My dad and I loved watching that show in the late '60s, in former Yugoslavia.)

I was travelling from Rye, NY to the Delaware coast, and had to get off at Brooklyn to see the bridge.

 The locks opened on 4th of July, 1917 and are run by the U.S. Army Corps.

     ... the stained glass windows originally created by Dick Weiss in 1988 were reconfigured (by Weiss) to fit into the new north escalator wall of windows. The first window, "Cow On Its Side," was installed in 2001, and the second window, "For A.W.," was installed in 2002. Each artwork had to be extended by several window mullions in order to retain the appropriate scale."
