     ... the stained glass windows originally created by Dick Weiss in 1988 were reconfigured (by Weiss) to fit into the new north escalator wall of windows. The first window, "Cow On Its Side," was installed in 2001, and the second window, "For A.W.," was installed in 2002. Each artwork had to be extended by several window mullions in order to retain the appropriate scale."

The very nice homeowner told me the mailbox was commisioned from Bill Crite. His signature is on the side.

Bill Crite, a prominent Southern California glass, tile and mosaicartist; photographer; and art educator, died in his Pasadena home on Friday, July 18 from heart failure at the age of 60.
His artwork has appeared on network television programs such as E.R., Cold Case, Good Morning America, The Jamie Foxx Show, Parent Hood andMartin, Chicago Hope, and Living Single.
Known for his exuberant nature and colorful work, Crite’s installationof mosaic-rich walls and tiled stairs in the courtyard of Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena, CA, has delighted thousands of shoppers and pedestrians over the years.
His work ranged from his small hands-on projects with children to his large tile installation in the “high roller suite” at the Aladdin Casino in Las Vegas; inclusion in numerous collections throughout the world; and exhibition in gallery shows in Southern California, Atlanta and Chicago.

There I found a wonderful book on the house and the man written by a local historian Jane Apostol - El Alisal: Where History Lingers (Los Angeles: Historical Society of Southern California, 1994.)

I used to work as an usher at the Music Center across the street from Disney Hall in 1976/77. Back then, the location of the concert hall was the employees' parking lot.
