St. George's Chapel within Windsor Castle is at bottom right, and Eton College is across the river. I found out what I had snapped a photo of after a friend saw the picture and said "Hey, that's Windsor Castle".

Abe's Bandit revisited - Wanda's Art Challenge

Many already know about Abe Lincon's extraordinary photo blogs, with especially amazing My Birds Blog.

Wanda's art challenge included an adorable racoon photo from Abe's photo collection. I'm taking a drawing class and tried to keep in mind all the various lessons, on contour, negative space, proportion, etc. The outcome was not as charming and sweet as Abe's photo, but I am so pleased that I gave it a try. Thank you, Wanda, for the hosting the chanllenge.

My feeble attempt with pastels at capturing the vivid colors of an autumn leaf. (I worked on it some more to try to give it more depth and overworked it to the point that it was not worth keeping. I'm glad I had the photo of the better if not very good work.)

Art Treasures - Leo Politi, 1977

I've been house-sitting my aunt Miryana's place, and discovered these treasures by Leo Politi in her den. Such an exciting discovery which doesn't say much for my power of observation - I must have been in that room at least 3 dozen times before.

Something Old and Something New

This is a sentimental post for me. The wooden dish is from Slavonia in Croatia. It was the sort of souveniers that we used to send to the US when I was a kid in Yugoslavia in the '60s. Very few shops now carry these type of items and I was so pleased to find one.

The flower basket is handmade by my friend Snjezana and her husband who live in Pozega, Croatia. The basket is made from remenants of door veniers and comes out so pretty, just right for a sunflower or two. It now has a home in the New World.

This was our first excursion into the local mountains. The ride was a very long one since we started in Hawthorne. We finally found a roadside stop that appealed to my aunt and had our picnic. Even at 12, I was proud of my capture here.
